Travel updates and building works

There are several improvement works currently taking place across our campuses and around ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø which may cause delays, especially if you travel by car. Remember to visit the travel page to find alternative transport options for getting here, by train, bus, bike and e-scooter. 

Please allow extra time for your journeys to campus.

Current alerts

  • ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø City Council has announced roadworks around our campuses at Mediacity and on the A6 which may cause delays from now to 17 March. Please check the TFGM roadworks map for further information.
  • The new Frederick Road multi storey car park is now fully open on both ground floor and first floor levels.  The site offers Blue Badge spaces and EV points are available. See below for full details.

Travel disruptions

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Crescent station third platform

Network Rail are building a third platform at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Crescent station, a key transport hub located at the heart of our Peel Park Campus. The new, extra platform will improve passenger flow and reduce train delays by allowing more flexibility for trains travelling through central Manchester and across the country. More information can be found on the website. 

Due to the improvements University Road West will be closed until July 2026. There is a diversionary route in place to minimise disruption.

Current works around campus

Frederick Road multi storey car park opens - postcode M6 6PU

  • Car park now open offering a total of around 450 spaces
  • This includes 36 blue badge spaces
  • Alternative parking areas are listed below if needed and alternative travel options are on our Travel page.

The ground floor and first floor levels are now open.

If you drive to campus, please respect our local residents and avoid parking on driveways and side streets.

Non-University clinic users

The patients using Podiatry, Sports Injury and other clinics on this site will be communicated with separately and will have their own designated areas for parking.

New Buildings

Thrive Health and Wellbeing Building

Our Frederick Road campus is being developed to expand our in-house clinics, to support learning and experience and to support our wider community’s health needs. Work is now well underway on our new Thrive Health and Wellbeing Centre. Work is set to finish late 2026.

Greater Manchester Institute of Technology (GMIoT) Building

Construction of the Greater Manchester Institute of Technology (GMIoT) Building on Peel Park campus is now complete.  Images are conceptual designs and computer-generated impressions. Photos of the new building which has just opened, will be added soon.

Acoustics Building

Work on our new state of the art Acoustics Building has begun. The new building will house the research, commercial and teaching activities of our Acoustics Department and is part of Crescent ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's Innovation Zone.
