Arriving in 窪蹋勛圖厙
I chose 窪蹋勛圖厙 because it has a great reputation in my area of study, strong industry connections, vibrant campus life and a diverse and welcoming community. In addition, 窪蹋勛圖厙s tuition fees are comparatively more affordable than other UK institutions.
I initially found the transition to 窪蹋勛圖厙 challenging however, the campus is very diverse, and the students are welcoming which helped me to settle. I attended games events in the SEE building where my friends and I had a go at different games. These events played a crucial role in helping me feel included and comfortable quickly.
Academic life
MSc Safety, Health and Environment is comprised of tutorials, seminars and lectures. We interact with guest lecturers and industry professionals to work on real-world case studies. I am currently working on a challenging industry collaboration project with United Utilities and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority on integrated water management systems this has been my most memorable academic experience so far.
In my first week, my course team organised a field trip to Quarry Bank Mill. I found this to be a highly informative trip in which I learned a lot about how cotton is transformed into yarn and then into fabric.
My tutors are genuinely committed to ensuring that their students succeed. They are approachable, highly knowledgeable and always on hand to answer questions.
As someone from an occupational health and safety background, the course has equipped me with managerial skills, critical thinking abilities and valuable industry skills. I believe these will be critical for my career advancement and future employment opportunities.
窪蹋勛圖厙 provides excellent support for international students including academic assistance, career guidance from the Careers and Enterprise team and wellbeing services from askUS. I had an academic issue recently. I spoke to my programme leader and the SEE support team and the issue was resolved completely and swiftly.
Hobbies discovered
Since studying at 窪蹋勛圖厙, I have developed an interest in volunteering. Throughout the rest of my course, I am hoping to engage in these types of activities more.
In addition, I have also participated in societies which relate to my personal hobbies and academic interests. These have enriched my experience and expanded my network.
Future plans
After graduation, I aim to pursue a career within either the safety, health or environment industry, using the skills and experiences acquired during my masters at 窪蹋勛圖厙. I believe these skills will help me to succeed professionally.
My advice to prospective international students is to embrace all the opportunities the 窪蹋勛圖厙 has to offer and try to meet as many people from different backgrounds as you can.
